You Can Love Your Body and Still Want Your Clothes to Flatter It
I showed my stomach on the internet this week..
For a lot of people, that’s just a regular day. For me, it was a first.
On October 14, I shared my abdominal scar on TikTok for the first time ever.
The scar is from childhood liver cancer. I’m not going to get into the details here, but I will tell you this: posting it felt almost wrong. I’ve spent my whole life NOT drawing attention to it. Honestly? I still try not to draw attention to it when I get dressed.
So it was a big moment for me to show my stomach online. I’m honestly not sure what got into me? Maybe the hope that sharing can help someone else.
That’s kind of been my whole thing. My entire life, I’ve been trying to make lemonade out of lemons and turn my weird, complicated medical history into something positive.
So let’s make some lemonade. 🍋

(Psst: the exact outfit I’m wearing in this post is linked right here if you want to peek ahead: brown off-the-shoulder top + animal print skort.)
Both Things Can Be True
Somewhere along the way, we got sold the idea that if you really accept your body, you shouldn’t care how clothes look on it.
Respectfully? No.
I don’t hate my stomach. I just don’t want it to be the highlight of my outfits.
Loving your body and having opinions about fit can live in the same closet. Your preferences are yours. They don’t need a defense.
It’s Not About Hiding
Here’s the mindset shift that changed getting dressed for me:
It’s not about hiding it. It’s about accentuating the parts you love.
The Outfit That Proves It
My current fave combo: the brown off-the-shoulder top with my Wild Fable animal print skort (the deer-looking one with dots).

Here’s why it works for me:
● The off-the-shoulder neckline pulls the eye up to my shoulders and collarbones. Hello, spotlight. ✨
● The ruching around the stomach gathers the fabric and defines my waist, so the focus lands right where I want it.
● The skort is fun, comfy, and from a brand I trust. I can always count on Wild Fable skorts.
I loved the top so much that I grabbed it in brown AND maroon.
Remember ✨
● Accepting your body and wanting flattering clothes can coexist.
● Fit preferences are personal. Trust yours.
● Necklines and ruching can shift where the eye goes.
Thank You for Being Here 💛

Next week, I’m sharing something I’ve been dealing with for eight years: eye pain, and what my BVD experience taught me about asking questions.
